The ritual centers on Chébé — a finely ground powder made from leaves, seeds, and stone, blended with rich oils, massaged into the scalp, then braided in.

A word from the founder
“My grandmother taught me Chébé. The world deserved to know.”
I grew up in N’Djamena, watching my mother and grandmother do the Chébé ritual every Friday night. My grandmother’s hair reached her waist at 78. Mine, when I moved to Paris at 19, was breaking off at my shoulders within a year.
I tried every “Black hair” brand on the European market. None of them spoke to my hair the way the ritual did. So in 2022, I flew home, sat with the women in my village, and asked them if they would teach me how they made the powder — and if they would let me share it with the world.
SARAYA is the answer to that question. Every jar funds the cooperative of women who make it. Every ritual carries my grandmother’s hands.
